Title: Beertender 

Reports to: Tap Room General Manager/Owner and Tap Room Management 

Job Classification: Part Time & Full Time Hourly - Non-Exempt 

 

Job Description 

608 Brewing Company is looking for a friendly, reliable, energetic beertender with open availability to complete our team. As a team member of 608 Brewing Company, your job is to fulfill our mission, be part of our vision, and work in support of our philosophy while fulfilling the job responsibilities listed below. Creating an exceptional experience for customers are the expectations of this position. In addition to the day-to-day activities, beertenders will be expected to learn everything they can about our beers, the production process and craft beer in general. They will be expected to guide guests to beers they would enjoy and explain the differences between staple and seasonal styles. Knowledge of BJCP Styles is important, as is knowledge of current trends of the craft-beer industry, including hop, grain and yeast choices.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Consistently serve beverages and food in accordance with established policies and procedures standards. 

  • Greet and welcome guests and respond to their requests in a friendly, courteous and timely manner. 

  • Educate guests in regards to all 608 products & processes. 

  • Lead product tastings & education for guests. 

  • Check identification of customers to verify age requirements for purchase of alcohol.  

  • Stay updated on current menu choices, specialties and menu deviations, menu availability.  

  • Stock bar with beer, liquor and related supplies. 

  • Perform basic cleaning tasks as needed or directed by supervisor. 

  • Obtain revenues, accept payment, issue receipts. 

  • Follow attendance rules. 

  • Uphold health and safety standards. 

  • Adhere to all sanitary and safety standards and procedures prescribed by the brewery. 

  • Adhere to grooming and appearance standards.

  • Adhere to 608 policies, laws and requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages. 

  • Attend all employee meetings and trainings beyond scheduled shifts as required. 

  • Learn and demonstrate all 608 standards of service. 

  • Maintaining proper par levels and freshness of all ingredients behind bar and in storage areas. 

  • Stock bar with NAs, beer, consumables, paper materials and related supplies. 

  • All other related responsibilities assigned by management. 

 

Job Requirements 

  • Must be 21 years of age or older. 

  • Must have TIPS certification/valid bartender’s license or obtain within 1 months of start date.

  • Availability to work at least 3 days a week, weekend availability is a must.

  • Previous bartending experience preferred but not required. Home brewing experience a definite plus.

  • Ability to demonstrate familiarity with various service techniques.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Have basic knowledge of service standards, guest relations, food and beverage preparations.

  • Basic level knowledge of beer.

  • Basic level of knowledge of brewing processes. 

 

 

Physical Requirements 

Requires grasping, writing, standing, sitting, walking, repetitive motions, bending, climbing, listening and hearing ability and visual acuity. 

Frequently lift/carry up to 40 lbs .
